Life Update and Living The Game

    LIFE UPDATE:

HI! I haven't written anything in so long! I am so sorry. I hope to contribute more to my blog  more often now.

So, what's been going on in my life this last year? Well, I babysat a wonderful little girl full time for about a year before she moved to a different city. I love her and still keep in contact with her. In fact, I'm going to go see her in about a week to spend three glorious days with her and her parents. I am so darn excited! She had become like a daughter to me and I miss her deeply.

Since the last time I blogged, I started two YouTube channels! Knit and Crochet With a Gilmoregirl is a knitting and crocheting podcast. Join me if you would like to! I currently have forty-seven subscribers from all over the world. I love doing this podcast. I've been doing everything yarny for quite a while now, and I love sharing my passion with other people.

My second YouTube channel is a booktube. You can find it by searching, Cheryl-Lynette Gilmore. It only has twelve subscribers but I'm enjoying doing it as well.

Other big news: I have started writing a new book! It is called, "Living The Game," and it is a fiction book based on the real life known to police as "The Game." This is a crime where men become "boyfriend pimps." They tell girls as young as twelve that they can give them the life they always wanted. You know, the faithful husband, the 2.5 kids, and the white picket fence. All they have to do is sleep with a few people to get some money. The pimps control the girls' every move. They tell them when to sleep, eat, and how many men they see that day. Often, they are kept in sleazy motel rooms. The girls sometimes have a choice to leave, but they are so brainwashed that they can't realize that they are being controlled. They figure that their boyfriend is the only one who will ever love them. Those that cannot leave, are beaten or even killed if they try to.

The Game is an epidemic all over the world, but it was only recognized in Canada a few years ago. It was nicknamed The Game in Toronto, Ontario, and it is since used to refer to this criminal act in Vancouver, B.C., and Montreal, Quebec, as well as other places in Canada. It is a growing concern that needs to be realized and dealt with.

I have spent hours researching The Game, and have now written six short chapters. They are posted on Fanstory.com, and Wattpad. Wattpad is free, and you can read it by searching for Gilmoregirl40. I am Cheryl Gilmore on Fanstory.

Well, that's about it! Thanks for reading me, and I would love it if you would comment about what you are thinking, feeling, or writing today. Don't forget to follow me on blogger, and subscribe to my YouTube channels. Thanks again!

CHAPTER 1 of Living The Game

This is a sneak peek at my novel, "Living The Game." Hope you enjoy it! CHAPTER 1 OLIVIA I don’t belong here on earth. For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt that way; like I wasn’t meant to be born. I was a mistake, as my mom often reminded me. My parents were young when I was conceived, barely out of high school. My Grandpa, Mom’s dad, threatened my dad with his life if he didn’t marry his pregnant girlfriend. Neither she nor he wanted to get married, but they were scared not to. I was born, seven months later. For nine years, I was told I wasn’t wanted. My dad left us two years after they married, and my mom blamed me for that right from the start. She began to hit me, starting with a simple slap in the face, and ending with me in the hospital. It happened when I was nearly ten years old. I had been late getting home from school because I was held in detention after cl
